Levadia Tallinn falter, Liepājas Metalurgs advance

JELGAVA, Latvia — Levadia Tallinn have been ousted from the 09/10 Triobet Baltic League whilst Liepājas Metalurgs have cruised to the semifinals.

After the evening of return leg quarterfinal action, the first two semifinalists have been found, but not necessarily the two that most had predicted to [private_supervisor]advance.

With the first leg in Marijampolė failing to produce a goal, more had been expected when Levadia Tallinn returned home to take on Sūduva for the second leg.

Indeed their was a little more action but perhaps not that which the local fans had turned out to see, with Sūduva sneaking in one goal which proved enough to see the Lithuanians advance to the next stage.

Down in Latvia Liepājas Metalurgs were traveling to Riga to take on countrymen Skonto, holding a slender 1-0 advantage on aggregate. Skonto attacked hard to square up the ledger but Liepājas Metalurgs showed why they are the defending Latvian champions, scoring a decisive away goal to move through to the semi-finals.

The remaining two semifinals will be played on Wednesday. [/private_supervisor] [private_subscription 1 month]advance.
