Sūduva join Ventspils for Triobet final

LIEPAJA, Latvia — Sūduva have joined Ventspils in next month’s Triobet Baltic League final.

The Lithuanians move through to the final after defeating Liepājas Metalurgs 4:2 on aggregate.

Having won the first-leg 3:0 last month at home in Marijampole, the Lithuanians left Liepājas Metalurgs with all the work to do on the return-leg in Liepāja on Wednesday evening.

As had been predicted the 3 goal deficit was too much for the Latvians to overcome. Their fans would have felt a slim hope of possibility when they went ahead in the 17th but this was as good as got for the local fans.

Sūduva were able to tie the game up late in the 83rd and a goal to Liepājas Metalurgs in the 88th gave them little more than a consolation victory with Sūduva already making their preparations for the final.

The Triobet Baltic League championship will be decided in a one off match on July 4. The location of the final is yet to be confirmed.
