LONDON — Kaia Kanepi has made her Wimbledon intentions clear, walking over Romanian 31st seed Alexandra Dulgheru in the round of 32.

Dulgheru offered little resistance to one of the most on-form players on tour at the moment as Kanepi swept her aside 6-1, 6-2 in little under an hour.

Kanepi pushed her opponent to break point on ten occasions, converting on five. In comparison Dulgheru could only convert one from five attempts.

However, Kanepi can not afford to let her guard down with her round of 16 opponent another giant killer at the tournament to date. Czech Klara Zakapalova booked her place in the round of 16 in similar fashion to Kanepi, walking over 10th seed Flavia Panetta 6-2, 6-3.

Between them they have now accounted for both of the finalists from Roland Garros, after Kanepi knocked out Samantha Stosur earlier in the week.

This is now Kanepi’s best performance at Wimbledon, having fallen the round of 31 stage last year, in what had been her best ever performance in the tournament.
