MONTREAL — Budding Latvian tennis star Ernests Gulbis is back on track in Canada’s Rogers Cup after an embarrassing defeat in Los Angeles last month.
In the first round of the Rogers Cup “The Gull” flew past Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci in straight sets, coasting by 6-1 in the first and coming back from a 3-0 deficit to win 6-4 in the second.
Gulbis is set to play Swede Robin Söderling on Tuesday. Let’s see if he gets further in Rogers than at the Farmers Classic.
