TALLINN — Tallinn police have yet to name a suspect for either Monday’s deadly assault in Toompark or Tuesday’s harassment of a woman allegedly by a similarly described man.

An unidentified man allegedly attacked two women with a baseball bat just before 8 a.m. Monday morning in the vicinity of the Shnelli Pond and Patkuli Stairs at Toompark in Tallinn’s Old Town, fatally wounding one. He remains on the loose.

A similar incident took place Tuesday morning at Lepistiku Park near the Magistral shopping center, but the woman involved was not physically assaulted.

Police announced today that a baseball bat, possibly the murder weapon, was found in the near vicinity of the crime scene but will not disclose when the bat was found. The weapon was analyzed for DNA and other information, but police are not disclosing any details  in order not to give any clues about the situation to the possible criminal, they won’t yet publish such information.

Police did release the name of the slain woman. Krista Odakivi, 34 died Wednesday evening in Mustamäe Hospital from injuries sustained in the seemingly random assault. Odakivi was a meteorologist at the Estonian Meteorological and Hydrological Institute.

The suspected attacker is 180-185 cm tall, is thin and has dark hair and a dark tan complexion. The man may be wearing a white cap and a dark jacket.
