VILNIUS — The new Prisma supermarket in the Ozas Gallery shopping mall that opened yesterday is what every discerning drinker in Lithuania has been waiting for. Aside from the rest of the supermarket, it has the most comprehensive booze selection that I’ve seen in the country — and believe me, I’ve been looking!

A whole wall of vodka ranging from your terpentine-in-a-bottle to the world’s newest favorite brand is just the beginning of this alcohol paradise — don’t forget the flavored vodkas. Some of the most outlandish drinks found were Sheridan’s Coffee Liqueur mix and various brands of absinthe available. Vermouth featured heavily on the back wall of the section, leading up the champagne section. Australian table champagne Jacob’s Creek features heavily and occupies the largest position on the shelves here.

Apart from spirits, there is also a large range of beer and wine on show, some of which hails from some of the world’s favorite  regions. It’s the only place you can find in Lithuania, where you can find wines like the Tuscan favorite Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which is even hard to find in Rome.

Not only the range though, but the price will set this place apart from the rest. Without going into individual prices, I can confirm that the cost of drinking here is less than other shops, especially for my favorite beer there.

This alcohol section will definitely make Prisma a major destination for all foreigners and those interested in international drinks alike. It has all the local products you find in chains like Maxima, Iki and Rimi with all sorts of Western brands not sold there on top of it. Needless to say, you may catch a Baltic Reports staff member there from time to time!
