JUODEIKIAI, Lithuania — Polish oil company PKN Orlen officially renamed newly acquired Lithuanian oil refinery Mažeikių Nafta to Orlen Lietuva after announcing its decision to do so in July.
In a press release PKN Orlen said the name change would better integrate the refinery into the rest of the company, which includes the Ventus-Nafta gas station chain and Remonto Mechanikos Centras.
PKN Orlen is currently carrying out a modernization program, and Orlen Lietuva CEO Krystian Pater said the refinery is undertaking “organizational and process changes, [and] new operating units.”
Pater did not comment if the changes would effect employment. PKN Orlen recently shook up the management of the refinery.
The refinery is one of the largest companies in Lithuania — it earns the most revenue of any company in the country and pays more taxes than any other private entity.
