VILNIUS — Lithuania’s capital is hardly known for its Irish heritage, but nevertheless it’s been chosen as one of party sites for the 250th anniversary the creation of Guinness tonight.
The main show of the global celebration is in Dublin with musical acts Black Eyed Peas, Estelle and Kasabian. While its running a live satellite feed will cover the action Vilnius along with Irish bars in New York, Lagos, Yaoundé and Kuala Lumpur.
The Vilnius party will be held at The Dubliner, located on Dominikonų 6 and is hosted by Donal O’Connell, the acting charge d’affaires of Ireland to Lithuania. At 7:49 p.m. Donal will raise a toast to Arthur Guinness — which will be done simultaneously at all the party locations.
Arthur Guinness started making the world-famous black, dry stout in 1759 first in Leixlip, then at the St. James’s Gate Brewery, Dublin. Now the company pulls in more than €2 billion annually.
