Swine flu death toll rises to six

VILNIUS — Six Lithuanian deaths have now officially been confirmed as being due to the swine flu virus, the vice health minister Artūras Skikas said Wednesday.

The latest death comes in Kaunas after a man of 40 died from swine flu complications.

While authorities say the amount of cases has stabilized, the A/H1N1 virus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the country. Forty-five municipalities are considered epidemic areas, and 922 schools — 65 percent of those in the country — are closed. Currently, hospitals are quarantined, schools and mass gatherings are recommended to be closed or postponed, and public workers are encouraged to wear masks
