RIGA — The Riga Regional Court sentenced a British man to eight years and six months in prison on Tuesday for sexually assaulting eight minors from 2005 to 2008.

Ian Andrew Elphick, 49, was found guilty of luring the children, all under age 16 from downtown Riga with candy and money to his house on the Latvian beach town of Saulkrasti where he admitted molesting them and making pornographic films with them. The prosecutor said there was ninth boy also molested by Elphick who declined to press charges, and that a total of 46 acts of offenses were committed.

In addition to incarceration, the paedophile was issued a 9,310 lats (€12,800) fine to compensate the victims, who were typically homeless at the time of the assaults.
