Irish ambassador going home

VILNIUS — Ireland will this summer appoint a new ambassador in Vilnius as Donal Denham completes his five-year posting in Lithuania.

Though Denham’s replacement will not be announced until the Lithuanian government has approved the new candidate, it is expected that [private_supervisor]Philomena Murnaghan, who is currently working in Argentina will take the post.

The Irish embassy in Vilnius confirmed to Baltic Reports that the change would take place and that the new candidate would be announced when accepted by Lithuanian authorities.

The change in ambassador is part of a new wave of diplomats being sent by the Irish government where 30 new representatives will be posted worldwide.
