TALLINN — Pieces of glass were found in five loaves of Fazer black bread in Kuressaare, a town on the island of Saaremaa.
The shards were put into the bread at Fazer’s Tallinn factory due to an unreported employee error. Fazer black bread was pulled from shelves Tuesday in a [private_supervisor]nationwide recall.
Kristjan Kongo, sales manager of Fazer Estonia told the media Tuesday that the employee did not follow the rules that goes to bringing loose objects into the factory. A pair of glasses then fell into the dough, and the bread with shattered glass pieces inside reached consumers. The employee chose not to report the management about the incident.
“It sounds unbelievable to us that an employee did not report the people responsible of the production who could have halted the bread cooking process,” Kongo told the press. “However we believe that it was not intentional.”
There is a possibility that there may be more breads made from the same dough. It is not known how many loads of bread with glass pieces reached the hands of consumers.
Kongo said the employee has not been identified. [/private_supervisor] [private_subscription 1 month]nationwide recall.
