TALLINN — Estonian Post Ltd., the state mail carrier is closing 40 little-used facilities and putting them on sale.
The postal company reported Wednesday that the buildings on sale include apartments, houses, land, and business buildings that do not meet the conditions for sorting mail or performing other tasks. The facilities have also significant administrative costs.
“We consider the possession and maintenance of these premises too costly and we do not have any interest to develop such real estate,” Aavo Kärmas, a board member of Estonian Post told the press.
Kärmas said that Estonian Post is a service company, not a real estate company and in upcoming years the company plans to move to rental premises located in shopping centers and other popular places.
Inge Suder, a press spokeswoman of Estonian Post, could not tell the value of the real estate on-sale.
