TALLINN — An Estonian man suspected of running a prostitution ring was caught by Ukrainian police with the help of Interpol in Sevastopol and is being extradited home for a trial.
Elvo Timm, who escaped from Estonia in 2007 to avoid from being convicted by court of operating a bordello. Timm owned two expensive brothels in Tallinn, one within the famous Lily Ööklubi strip club on Tatari Street in the center of Tallinn. The other brothel on Tiahse Street. While police arrested 16 people for pimping, Timm managed to escape.
Timm is now held at Sevastopol investigation center and will be handed over to the Estonian authorities in the near future.
Maria-Elisa Tuulik, press spokeswoman of Northern Prosecutor’s Office told Baltic Reports that they will not comment when Timm was detained, or whether he is connected to human trafficking. However, Tuulik said that the court proceedings concerning other 16 suspects is ongoing at Harju County Court.
While the act of prostitution is not illegal in Estonia, operating an brothel is.
