VILNIUS — After two failed proposals for the candidate to the Minister of Culture’s post, Arūnas Valinskas has said that his National Resurrection Party is ready to present the third to the president.
Valinskas headed a party drive to get their own candidate Remigijus Vilkaitis to resign. Vilkaitis said he would resign from the post once he had finished important work that he started. Valinskas presented himself for the job, but President Dalia Grybauskaitė shut him down saying that he had neither the [private_supervisor]political approval nor the skills to be minister. She then threw out their second proposal, opera singer Deividas Staponkus saying that he didn’t have political support.
The third candidate has been decided, but Valinskas is not releasing the name just yet, he told the Kauno Diena newspaper on Tuesday morning.
Valinskas said that the new candidate is one of the most talented people in Lithuania and is suited well for the job.
The candidate has not yet been approved by the entire party and its board, but once it is, they will be presented, he said.
