KLAIPĖDA, Lithuania — The Klaipėda Free Economic Zone announced on Monday that it signed a contract with a subsidiary of the HeidelbergCement multinational cement manufacturer to build a €2.8 million logistics terminal.
The terminal will be used to import up to 50,000 to 70,000 metric tons of cement per year, and the company said in a statement to the press that it expects to hire 15 to 20 employees for the facility. The terminal is being built entirely by HeidelbergCement’s own funds.
The Klaipėda Free Economic Zone is adjacent to the city’s port and hosts a number of foreign businesses. Incentives for investment include a six-year exemption from corporate taxes and elimination of dividend taxes for foreign investors.
