NEW HAVEN, Connecticut — Kaia Kanepi has entered a losing streak after her impressive win against no. 14 Shahar Peer earlier this month, losing the second round at Montreal and out in the first in New Haven.
Kanepi was defeated in only two sets by Daniela Hantuchová, with the Slovakian brushing her aside after a tough first match 5-7, 3-6.
Kanepi will be out of action until the Flushing Meadows tournament, a Grand Slam event, which starts Aug. 30 in nearby New York.
