A time to read

VILNIUS — In the U.S. there’s always a big to-do about this year’s “summer reading list.” I suppose that makes sense if you’re a teacher or student, but I always found the best time to read is in the winter.

That’s usually when you spend the most indoors anyway. So, if you approach reading like I do and if you’re spending the winter in Vilnius like I am, [private_supervisor]you’ll probably enjoy the Vilnius Book Fair, which starts Thursday and goes until Sunday.

While Vilnius lacks an English-language bookstore with as much selection as Robert’s Books in Riga, the book fair helps make up for that with English-language books on sale from a variety of publishers. There’s also numerous exhibition stands from European publishing houses, children’s activities, roundtable discussions featuring some of Lithuania’s European Parliament representatives in addition to other public figures, and various authors available for autographs.

The fair is taking place at the Litexpo exhibition center, on the eastern outskirts of Vilnius on Laisvės Prospect. Admission for one day is 10 litai (€2.90), for all four days is 25 litai (€7.30). For more information about the event, click here.
