TALLINN — In a rare patch of good economic news for Estonia, the Finnish metal production company Hyrles opened a new sheet metal processing plant in the vicinity of Tallinn on Friday.
The company invested 30 million krooni (€1.9 million) into the plant and by the end of the year it will hire up to 30 people, a small but important number in the tiny country where the unemployment rate exceeds 14 percent. Hyrles is contributing to the training of its new employees, who already should have programming skills. The company’s first year turnover is expected to be the same as the investment.
Hyrles OÜ is an outsourcing company whose clients include ABB, Philips and Nokia, with 90 percent of its production going for export.
Bo Henriksson, CEO of ABB Estonia said at the opening that opening this factory in Estonia is important, because it brings new know-how and helps to lift the metal production on a new level.
