RIGA — The Aldaris brewing company is on the shortlist of Latvian companies that turned a healthy profit in 2009 despite a roughly 10 percent decreased turnover.
Total sales were 37.9 million lats (€53 million) from which the Riga company garnered a €2 million profit.
Chairwoman of the Aldaris board of directors Ināra Šure said she was pleased with the company’s performance under such economic conditions.
“In 2009, was a testing year for Aldaris, as the situation with the Latvian economy and the world as a whole deteriorated significantly,” Šure said.
Aldaris brands include its namesake, Apinītis, Euro Beer, D Light, Zelta, Kiss Cider, Vichy Water and Montavit Water among others.
The company is a member of the Carlsberg Group, a multinational beverage conglomerate headquartered in Denmark.
