TALLINN — A 43-year-old alleged rapist faces up to 15 years in prison for raping four underage girls he picked up on the side of the road during the last months of 2009.
The Northern District Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday that it had finished the investigation of the 43-year-old Guntars, accused of raping four girls, and submitted the case to the [private_supervisor]Harju County Court for trial proceedings. Guntars’ last name is not being released.
The prosecutor’s office detained Guntars back in Nov. 2009. Guntars, whose last name is not being released by authorities, allegedly raped the girls in October and November 2009. All four girls were hitch-hiking in different locations at Harju County when they were picked up by the suspect.
Maria-Elisa Tuulik, press spokeswoman of the Northern District Prosecutor’s Office told Baltic Reports that as the court proceedings have not been scheduled yet it is not possible to release anymore information, including the victims’ age.
The prosecutor’s office is pressing charges against Guntars for four counts of the sexual assault of a minor. If convicted, the suspect faces 6 to 15 years in prison.
