RIGA — The For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK political party will have to pay 18,000 lats (€25,700) into the state budget after a court upheld a corruption bureau finding.
The coalition member has only five seats, but holds a lot of sway in the Saeima given that the government is made up of a 47-seat minority.
The Administrative District Court imposed an obligation on the association party to immediately pay to the state budget 18,000 because of its paid subscription membership fee structure which the court found unlawful.
The court decision was adopted in accordance with a Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau decision. The bureau found that the amount paid to the state from the proceeds of financing of the political organization did not concur with the law.
