VILNIUS — While most Lithuanians spend half of their summer swimming in one of the country’s 6,000 lakes, until now none had gone underwater with a camera in hand.
That’s perhaps understandable, as underwater photography involves very expensive equipment. But now, for the first time a public gallery displaying underwater photos of the country’s biggest lake, Lake Plateliai is making waves worldwide after an Agence France-Presse report about the art show went out on the wire.
The photos were taken by a local diving club and the project is called “Aqualung.”
The gallery will be displayed until mid-September at the Grigaliaus Sodyboje in the Paplatelės village next to Lake Plateliai.
