Original tent protester arrested

RIGA — Gints Gaikens, the man who started the tent protest, was arrested Wednesday for bringing a crane in front of Riga’s city hall in a vain attempt to speak with Vice Mayor Ainārs Šleser, whose office is located on the second floor. Gaikens was holding a sign that said, “Slesers! You promised 50,000 jobs, give one!”

Gaikens was charged with holding an unauthorized protest and not complying with police.

Gaikens is an unemployed lawyer from Valmiera who demands immediate action on joblessness and improved social benefits from the government.

Meanwhile the tent encampment is still in front of the Council of Ministers building.

And Slesers was more or less only smiling when the reporter talked with him about this. It´s much easier to promise and talk empty words before elections. After that there are some years to find excuses why I could not keep my promises.
I was already earlier wondering why it was such an easy to get so many votes for Slesers. What did he do earlier? Why didn´t he make so huge positive changes during the period of being minister?
It is actually a good question, where are all those jobs? Even Slesers doesn´t have so many yes-yes friends around him to fill all those thousands of jobs. Wake up people !!!
