RIGA — New numbers from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association highlight how hard the economic crisis has hit car dealerships in the Baltic states.

In Lithuania and Estonia, new car sales in 2009 plummeted two-thirds from the previous year, but in Latvia sales dropped a whopping 80 percent, the worst in Europe. The Baltic states made up the four worst-performing on the continent along with Iceland.
