Gulbis forced out of Wimbledon by injury

RIGA — Latvian tennis fans will have to miss what could have been a very exciting match after budding star Ernests Gulbis was forced to pull out of Wimbledon due to a hamstring injury.

Had Gulbis played he was projected to have a rematch with top player Rafael Nadal. Gulbis, who managed to beat top-seeded Roger Federer earlier this season, managed to spook Nadal in 2008 by winning a set although Nadal went on to win.

So, we’ll have to wait until the U.S. Open in September to see The Gull back in Grand Slam action.
