JELGAVA, Latvia — Three more games took place over the weekend in the Baltic Basketball League (BBL) with Lietuvos Rytas, Ventspils and Valmiera chalking up victories.

Lietuvos Rytas returned from a successful showing in Euroleague earlier in the week to record a comprehensive 99-77 win over countrymen Šiauliai to continue their unbeaten run. After cruising in the first-quarter to lead 29-20, a fired up Šiauliai completely dominated the second-quarter to go into halftime surprise 45-41 leaders. However some form of normalcy returned after half-time as Lietuvos Rytas took control of the game to cruise away to victory.

Up in Latvia, Ventspils were looking to get their season back on track after returning from two losses. Fans need not have been too concerned with their side absolutely dominating their Lithuanian counterparts Nevėžis 106-62. The victory now sees them sitting amongst the top teams.

Down in Liepāja, Valmiera fans finally had something to cheer about as their boys emerged 73-69 victors from a hard fought battle with Liepāja Lauvas. It is the first win they have recorded in this campaign. Down going into the final quarter, Valmiera rallied hard to win the quarter 26-13 and take the game.
