Janis Strelnieks takes MVP award

VENTSPILS, Latvia — Ventspils guard Janis Strelnieks was named the most valuable player Tuesday for the October month of the 09/10 Baltic Basketball League season.

The award is handed out on a monthly basis with Strelnieks the first recipient for this season. The 20-year old has shown maturity beyond his years often carry the team, averaging 17.5 points and just over four rebounds a game.

In other BBL news Rock has won the battle of Estonia, defeating Kalev/Cramo 78-72. Rock lead throughout the game with Janar Talts and Canadian Scott Morrison both scoring 17 points. The victory temporarily sees Rock sitting in fourth place with a 2-win 2-loss record.
