Lietuvos Rytas fare better than fellow countrymen

VILNIUS — Lietuvos Rytas’ Euroleague campaign remains on track following a commanding 78-56 win over Partizan on Thursday evening.

The win sees Lietuvos Rytas move into second place in group 2 with a three win, one loss record. Their chances of reaching the next round are looking a lot more stable than those of fellow Lithuanian team Žalgiris who are languishing near the bottom of group 1.

Partizan, from Serbia, remained in touch with Lietuvos Rytas throughout the first-half but the Lithuanians took the game away from them following the break, winning the third quarter 22-7.

The deficit became too big for Partizan to overcome and although they rallied hard in the final quarter, ultimately they were made to pay for only turning up for three out of the four quarters.

The main destroyer for Lietuvos Rytas was player Martynas Gecevičius who delivered a game-high 19 points.
