Parking lot ceiling collapses

TALLINN — The ceiling of the fourth floor parking lot at the Viru Center shopping mall in Tallinn collapsed Monday morning, but fortunately no one was hurt.

The ceiling collapsed after water coming from the balcony of a neighboring [private_supervisor]apartment building froze. The ceiling could no longer carry the weight and collapsed. No cars were parked at the location at the time of the incident.

Rain Luks, public administrator of Viru Shopping Center, said the accident was not caused by a construction flaw.

“It has been there for more than five years, and nothing has happened,” Luks told Baltic Reports.

According to Luks, the new ceiling will probably cost from 10,000 to 15,000 krooni (€639 to €958) to repair.[/private_supervisor] [private_subscription 1 month]apartment building froze.
