Franchise website opens

VILNIUS — Lithuania investors will now have easier access to franchises that are specifically interested in the country after a new website was created for the purpose.

The franchise model isn’t common in the Baltic states, and many businesses selling them in Europe or other parts of the world don’t understand the local market and potential in the three countries. This leads them to often [private_supervisor]ignore the three small countries hugging the eastern Baltic shore.

The website www.franchise-shop.lt will bring together investors in Lithuania and franchisers who want to expand.

“There are a lot of franchise catalogs around the world and if someone from Lithuania is interested in buying a franchise, it would be a real headache to find people who he thinks would interested in him,” Severinas Žilinskis, director of the website, told Baltic Reports. “There are a lot of people in Europe who don’t know where is Lithuania and this kills a lot of optimism. We need to make a portal that makes people interested in the region.”

Though the company is starting out in Lithuania, it is has plans to expand to the other two Baltic states, Latvia and Estonia by the end of the month. Further down the track the company could also expand to other former Soviet countries, Žilinskis said.

Currently the website only displays 14 different franchising opportunities, but the director said that they want to ease the website in and don’t want to flood it with too much information.

“We planned that by the end of this year there will be 100 franchises on there. Now we have the opportunity to have 60, but it is still a process of negotiations. We don’t want to give a lot of options immediately, but if clients don’t see the ones they like, we expect they will call us and ask for more,” he said adding that the website will have around a dozen new franchises every month.

The website currently has three categories for franchises — food and hospitality, service and retail. [/private_supervisor] [private_subscription 1 month]ignore the three small countries hugging the eastern Baltic shore.
